The Nexus resource platform provides action
Enables
policymakers, planners, academics and scientists to put the WEF nexus thinking
into practice through knowledge products, trainings, videos and projects. Our
Knowledge Centre offers a wide range of resources that support and inspire the
implementation of the WEF Nexus approach.
Further development of the resource
nexus concept for research and practice
Flour
Brouwer et al. aim of this paper is to test the validity of the nexus construct
in research and practice. Based on a systematic review of reviews, including 62
Nexus-related reviews, and subsequent consultation with around 60 Nexus
experts, a robust and flexible approach to advance the alignment of resources
for research and practice is proposed. In this way, knowledge gained through
Nexus studies can provide more substantial support to decision makers when
designing and implementing policies for the sustainable management of
environmental resources.
Summary
The concept
of Nexus has evolved significantly over the past decade. Many literature
reviews have contributed greatly to capturing the progress in the development
of knowledge and tools to improve science-policy support for highly
interconnected and interdependent resources. However, literature reviews often
focus on related concepts in specific areas (e.g., the nexus between water,
energy, and food) or analyses (e.g., environmental impact assessments,
technological tools, management and policy aspects). Therefore, a comprehensive
understanding of real Nexuses and the resources that build them needs to be
further improved. The aim of this article is to test the validity of a nexus
construct for research and practice. Based on a systematic review of reviews including
62 Nexus-related review articles and subsequent consultation with about 60
Nexus experts, we propose a robust and flexible approach to promote a nexus of
resources for research and practice. Knowledge gained through nexus research
can provide more comprehensive support to decision makers when designing and
implementing policies for the sustainable management of environmental
resources.
